Suspect allegedly runs from police, admits to having drugs

A man is charged in Lake Ozark after he allegedly led police on a chase and later admitted to having drugs in his possession.

Lake Ozark police said they tried to stop Samuels around 2:30 a.m. Saturday. Officers said he was speeding and failed to stay in the right lane. That’s when officers say Samuels drove away from them and turned around on Bagnell Dam Boulevard. While driving through traffic, officers say a glass item was thrown from the window. Samuels continued to flee from police until he almost crashed into a telephone pole and propane tank.

Officers were able to take Samuels into custody. After reading him his rights, Samuels allegedly confessed to having marijuana and ecstasy. During a search of his car, police also found a gun. Samuels also told officers he didn’t stop because he didn’t have a license.

After being taken into custody, officers say Samuels gave them consent to search his room at the Shoreland Motel. That’s where they found more marijuana and another gun.

Samuels was charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a controlled substance and resisting arrest.
