Crews rescue driver from flooded road

Crews from Macon County’s Rescue Squad and Macon Rural Fire Department rescued a man early Friday morning who they say attempted to drive through the water over Business 36 near US-36 east of Macon.

“I’d like to urge the citizens of Macon County to not drive through flooded roads.,” said Matthew A. Chambers, Director of the Macon County Office of Emergency Management. “The flood water has strong current in many locations and can push cars off the road into the ditch like what we believe happened with the water rescue that occurred tonight. There is also a potential that culverts and the road bed may be washed out under the flooded water.”

Chambers said State Route DD between US-63 and Ten Mile was also flooded Friday morning.
