Paddy Malone’s to work out agreement with Jefferson City after gun incident

The Jefferson City Liquor Control Board voted to table a discussion Thursday on an incident with a gun at a popular bar.

ABC 17 News reported that police arrested Allen Tatman after reportedly firing a gun while drunk at Paddy Malone’s Irish Pub in April. Tatman is the husband of the bar’s official owner and liquor license holder.

Richard Callahan, the attorney for Molly Malone Enterprises, sent the city a letter requesting that the liquor control board table the issue for 30 days to come to an agreement with the city, according to Assistant City Counselor Bryan Wolford.

Wolford said Paddy Malone’s would admit that there was a violation and work out a subsequent consequence with the city. That would nullify any future need of a hearing and would shorten the process.

Court documents and the Jefferson City Police Department’s arrest report said Tatman fired a flintlock rifle off the bar’s back patio.

Officers then went into the bar and spoke to Tatman, who was reportedly visibly intoxicated.

Tatman then fired the antique-style rifle again in an attempt to show officers it was not loaded. But the gun still discharged, causing a large burst of sparks.

Police arrested Tatman since it is illegal to fire a weapon while intoxicated.

The liquor control board meet next month to discuss what action will be taken on the incident.
