Dry Tuesday night with increasing storm chances

TONIGHT: It will be a pleasant and warm night across Mid-Missouri, as temperatures only bottom out in the mid-60s across the region. Mostly clear skies are expected overnight, with southerly winds under 8 mph. It will be a dry night, but an approaching warm front lifting to the northeast will aide in moisture return and set the stage for storms as we head into Wednesday.

WEDNESDAY: It will be a pleasant start to the day, but temperatures and humidity will begin to increase. We will have a slight chance for morning showers north of Hwy 24 through noon. It will begin to feel more like June with a high temperature expected around 88 degrees. We will see partly sunny skies with southerly winds up to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Evening storms are expected through the overnight, mainly north of I-70. There is a slight chance for severe weather, with main threats being large hail and damaging winds.
EXTENDED: Heat and humidity will continue to increase through the week with temperatures climbing into the mid to upper 80s. Active weather looks likely as a cold front will slowly track through Missouri. This could allow for heavy rainfall with the potential for some isolated flash flooding areas. A slight risk of severe weather will continue for Thursday. Main threats with any storms that are severe will be hail and damaging winds. Rainfall amounts through the weekend will likely exceed three inches north of I-70. By the weekend, temperatures once again fall below normal, with highs back in the mid 80s.
