Shell casings found near church, car dealership in Columbia

Columbia police are investigating a possible drive-by shooting in central Columbia Saturday.

Three officers were at the scene, including one from the “street crimes” unit.

ABC 17 News crews saw officers collect at least one shell casing from in front of Machens car dealership on Bernadette Drive, across from Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

Police confirm officers found shell casings from different calibers of firearms along Bernadette.

Witnesses reported seeing a black Nissan Sentra driving on Bernadette with at least one person shooting from the car.

Witnesses told ABC 17 they heard between five and six shots. They said it sounded like two people firing at each other.

It’s not clear if there was any property damage done to the Machens dealership or the church.

ABC 17 News will continue to update this story as more details become available.
