Fulton man in custody after leading police on chase

A Fulton man was arrested on several charges following a chase and a crash late Friday night.

Fulton police said an officer saw a dark-colored car with incorrect license plates on Churchill Drive shortly before 11 p.m. Friday.

The officer recognized the driver of the car as Kavin B. Vance, who they said they knew to have a felony revoked driver’s license status and multiple warrants out for his arrest.

The officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop with Vance.

Vance started to drive at a high rate of speed away from the officer, police said.

Multiple officers responded to the area to help.

Vance drove through the city of Fulton and ended up crashing into a utility pole, stop sign and a private property chain-link fence on Westminster Avenue and 11th Street.

Police said Vance ran away from the scene toward Carver Park, where police were able to find and arrest him.

Police searched Vance and his vehicle and found two bags of marijuana.

Vance was arrested on charges of felony driving while revoked, failure to yield to a emergency vehicle, resisting arrest by flight, careless and imprudent driving, property damage first degree, leave the scene of an accident, possession of marijuana under 35 grams, one misdemeanor warrant and one felony warrant.
