Columbia man shot during early morning shooting

Columbia police said they are investigating a shooting that injured one 24-year-old man early Saturday morning.

Police said they were called to the 1600 block of Sylvan Lane for reports of gunshots around 1:30 a.m.

They said the victim showed up at the University of Missouri’s Women and Children Hospital with gunshot wounds before he was transferred to the main hospital.

Police said there was only one victim.

They found gun shell casings in the area and a vehicle with damage from gunfire. They also found blood near the same vehicle and near an apartment unit.

Police said they do not have any suspect information.

Forensic crime scene units have investigated the area and it is back open to the public.
