FEMA approves nearly $9 million for flood survivors, $35 million for insurance

On Friday, the Missouri Department of Public Safety announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency, or FEMA, had approved $8.9 million in assistance grants for survivors of Missouri’s spring flooding and nearly 1,400 applicants for assistance.

The National Flood Insurance Program has also processed more than half of the 1,300 claims filed by Missouri policy holders. Those payments, so far, add up to more than $35 million.

The funding comes nearly two months after the state was hit with historic flooding.
