Remaining mild with lingering storms through midnight
TONIGHT: Any lingering spot storms from the afternoon will dissipate after midnight, with a mild night underway. Temperatures will begin to fall into the upper 60s under partly cloudy skies. Winds will remain out of the southwest under 8 mph.
WEDNESDAY: The cold front that was responsible for the spotty storms Tuesday will begin to lift north as a warm front. Any rain that develops will be well north of Mid-Missouri. There will be a noticeable change in humidity as the front begins to lift north. Temperatures through the day will climb into the lower 90s, with heat indices in the mid 90s through the day.
EXTENDED: The heat will return to Mid-Missouri as we head into the middle of the week, as highs will climb back into the lower 90s. Thanks to humidity not being as high, we’ll only see heat indices in the middle 90s through Thursday. With the increasing heat and humidity, this will set the stage for another round of showers and storms with each passing upper level disturbance. Isolated showers and storms are possible Thursday, but the better chance of rain arrives by Friday. A cold front will once again be knocking on our doorstep, with heavy rain and thunderstorms likely as we head into the weekend. The unsettled pattern looks to continue through the weekend into next week, as moisture from the tropics will likely keep us on the wet side.
