Strong storms with damaging winds possible through Saturday evening
TONIGHT: It will be a stormy night across Mid-Missouri, as a cold front tracks through Mid-Missouri. Expectations are for scattered storms to pop up ahead of the cold front as we head towards sunset, with the storms eventually congealing into a line. These storms will likely be on the strong side, with winds in excess of 70 mph being our main threat. With any mature storms we see, there is a good chance we could see some large hail and an isolated tornado threat. The storms will track to the southeast through the evening, with areas near I-44 seeing weakening storms as we head through 11 PM. Once storms clear Mid-Missouri, we’ll see winds shift out of the northwest, with overnight lows in the upper 60s.
SUNDAY : A few lingering showers are possible near I-44 as we head through the early morning hours on Sunday. We’ll start the day off with cloudy skies, with decreasing clouds through the day. By the afternoon, conditions will cool off with lower humidity and temperatures in the lower 80s with a northwesterly breeze up to 15 mph . Skies will gradually clear out by the evening time leaving us with a pleasant end to our Father’s Day forecast.
EXTENDED: Dry weather will continue for the start of next work week with highs in the lower 80s Monday, climbing to the upper 80s Tuesday and Wednesday with a chance of storms returning as we head through Thursday. The heat looks to take a backseat this week, as our hottest day looks to be Wednesday, with highs only near 90.
