Columbia man shot dead after shooting at off-duty police officer in St. Louis

A Columbia man has been shot dead after shooting at an off-duty police officer in a Shell Gas station on Tuesday.

The suspect, Chazz Brown, 33, of Columbia, went into the gas station on 1828 Arsenal Street and announced that he was attempting to rob it. Brown was also holding a gun.

The off-duty police officer confronted teh suspect, who turned towards him and started firing shots in his direction. The officer shot back, hitting the suspect, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
