Pedestrian hit by impaired driver in Linn County

A Missouri state trooper was called to a crash involving a pedestrian in Bucklin, Missouri, early Wednesday morning.

Jose R. Montoya, 18, of Bucklin, was driving a stolen 1984 Ford truck in a careless manner through a residential yard in the 200 block of Baker Street.

Montoya’s vehicle struck and seriously injured Amanda R. Hepworth, 27, of New Cambria, Missouri when he went through the yard. Hepworth was flown to University Hospital in Columbia.

Montoya was contacted at his home and was found intoxicated.

The preliminary felony charges for which Montoya was arrested are driving while intoxicated resulting in a serious physical injury, armed criminal action, second degree assault and tampering with a motor vehicle.
