Scattered strong storms possible through Wednesday evening

TODAY: Severe thunderstorm watch in effect for all of Mid-Missouri through 8pm this evening. Scattered showers and storms are already developing this afternoon in a very unstable atmosphere. Any storms we still, while not expected to be organized, will likely be on the strong side. Any storms we see develop will carry through the overnight hours as they gradually track to the south. All of Mid-Missouri is under a slight severe risk for possible strong wind gusts of 58 mph or greater or hail the size of quarters or greater. Rainfall amounts will range from .25″ to .50″ south of I-70 with areas north of I-70 up to .75″ rain.

TONIGHT: Another muggy night is possible across Mid-Missouri, with increasing storm chances as a cluster of storms is expected to track southward through Mid-Missouri. Storms this evening are all dependent upon whether or not we get afternoon storm formation. Skies will remain mostly cloudy with temps in the lower 70s. There will be a slight breeze out of the SW up to 8 mph.

EXTENDED: After a chance of early morning storms Thursday, it looks like a hot and humid day with high temperatures in the low 90s and heat indices in the mid-upper 90s. Most areas will stay dry Thursday but we are watching for possible storms late Thursday night into Friday morning. It will remain hot and sticky Friday as high temperatures climb to near 90. Storm chances increase Friday night into Saturday morning with a partly cloudy, hot, humid afternoon Saturday reaching the lower 90s. A cold front will move through early Sunday bringing another chance of storms Saturday night into Sunday morning and cooling us down a few degrees Sunday with slightly less humidity for Father’s Day.
