Missouri lawmaker butchers chicken in video responding to special session

A Facebook video posted by state Rep. Mike Moon, R-Lawrence, shows the lawmaker butchering a chicken while talking about the recent special legislative session.

“When the governor called for the second special session this year, I was right in the middle of my summer job,” said Moon in the video. “Like any good ‘career politician,’ when I get the call, I’m going back to work.”

Gov. Eric Greitens, another Republican, frequently uses the term “career politician” in a derogatory manner to describe the members of the Missouri legislature.

The special session, scheduled to continue Tuesday, is centered around abortion issues with 14 bills already filed on the subject, the majority of which support the pro-life viewpoint.

Moon, a staunch pro-life supporter, announced his filing of the 14th on Monday night, which would establish the Missouri Right to Life Act.

“We’re called back for this special session for the primary purpose of supporting life and protecting the unborn specifically and I think we need to get to the heart of the matter,” Moon said, holding up the heart of the slaughtered bird.

The video can be seen on Rep. Moon’s Facebook page.
