Cooling centers open as summer heats up

Tuesday will be one of the hottest days of the week, according to Meteorologist Brigit Mahoney.

The hot weather can be dangerous if not properly prepared, that is why Columbia welcomes anyone who wants to beat the heat to head into any cooling center.

If a person needs to get out of the heat, head to the closest cooling center, drink water and take a break for a while.

The center can be useful for the homeless and people working outside and can save lives.
