Moberly woman killed in rollover crash

A woman was killed and six other people, including four children, were taken to the hospital Saturday afternoon after a single-car crash in Randolph County.

The crash happened around 3:50 p.m. on Route C about six miles north of Huntsville.

The Highway Patrol said the driver, Nicole Ashbaker, 27, drove off the right side of the road, overcorrected, and went off the left side of the road into an embankment, causing her car to flip. Troopers said she was ejected from the car.

She was later pronounced dead at the hospital. According to the crash report, she was not wearing a seat belt.

Her passenger, Danny Bowen, 36, of Moberly, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Troopers said he also wasn’t wearing a seat belt.

Four children under the age of 10 were also taken to the hospital with minor injuries. All were wearing their seat belts.

The Highway Patrol was assisted by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, Randolph County Ambulance and Westran Fire.
