18-year-old drowns at Fugitive Beach

(UPDATE 8:30 p.m.): The Highway Patrol has identified the teen as Kalon Green, of Belleville, IL.

(ORIGINAL): A teen was pronounced dead at Phelps County Regional Medical Center Saturday after an incident at Fugitive Beach in Rolla.

Fugitive Beach owners Mark and D’ettra Kearse said the 18-year-old went down the water slide with his sister into 12 feet of water, but didn’t resurface.

Fugitive Beach staff jumped into the water, found him and performed CPR before he was taken to the hospital, the owners said.

The teen’s name has not yet been released. The Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
