Missing man’s body found at the Lake of the Ozarks

The body of an Illinois man who had been missing at the Lake of the Ozarks for a week and a half was recovered Saturday morning, said Sgt. Scott White, with the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Jesse Blakely, 20, of Matteson, Illinois, was reported missing May 31 at 7:35 p.m. Troopers said Blakely was thrown from a boat when it hit a wake near mile marker 6 in the main channel.

White said a resident found Blakely’s body in a cove at the 5.7 mile marker in Morgan County around 8:25 a.m. Saturday.

The Boone County medical examiner will perform an autopsy within the next few days.
