People feel fatigued after several snowstorms this season
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
This is Mid-Missouri's third winter storm and it is leaving some people feeling pretty fatigued.
People will still need to stay prepared for severe weather as it comes, but some say they are taking less extreme measures for the upcoming storm.
"Here we are again it feels like groundhog day we've done this three weeks in a row, four weeks in a row. With weather moving in on a Wednesday and kinda messing up our Thursday, and Friday," Gale Blomenkamp, with the Boone County Fire Protection District, said.
One Columbia resident Steve Grieshaver, told me he is sick of the snow, ice and freezing temperatures this winter.
"This is about the third one in three weeks so a lot of people are tired of it already. I'm tired of shoveling snow," Grieshaver said.
Since January first, the ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Team has issued seven weather alert days in the Mid-Missouri area, tomorrow's storm will bring the total to eight.
Heston Wilkerson, assistant manager of ACE Hardware, said the demand for snow supplies is down.
"I haven't seen that much of an influx in customers this time around," Heston said.
Emily Woll, Alpine Shop store manager said the same.
"The first two that we had in the beginning of the year we definitely had people coming in looking for hats or gloves. This time everyone's ready for the spring, either everybody is stocked up or we're just done with it and we're going to hold out," Woll said.
But the Boone County Fire Protection District says no matter how many storms come through, make sure your car is well-stocked for an emergency.
"Dry clothing in your vehicle, you have a blanket, something to keep you warm, a small shovel to clean your tailpipe in case you get stuck," Blomenkamp said.
