Strong storms hit mid-Missouri Friday morning

UPDATE 7:18am: Three Rivers Electric is reporting nearly 1,00 customers are without power in its service area.

It’s based out of Linn in Osage County.

The Osage County Sheriff’s Department says it is still assessing damage in the area, but did confirm several roads are blocked in the county and several people are without power.

ORIGINAL: Strong storms hit the mid-Missouri area Friday morning producing at least one tornado warning and leaving thousands without power.

The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for Montgomery County around 4:30 Friday morning, but it has since expired.

ABC 17 News called the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office to get updates on storm damage. It says it has only gotten reports of minor wind damage so far and has no reports of injuries.

The sheriff’s office did say it was working a crash on I-70 EB at mile marker 177.4 around 4:45am. It says no injuries were involved in that wreck, but says it was blocking traffic.

The Callaway County Sheriff’s office also confirmed sirens went off overnight there. It says a tornado warning was briefly issued for the area. It says it has no reports of debris or damage though.

By 5:00am Friday, Ameren Missouri was reporting thousands of outages in mid-Missouri, including more than 300 in Boone County and more than 100 in Cole County.
