Tracking spring-like weather ahead of another winter system
TONIGHT
A sunny and warm day so far, with temperatures soaring into the 50's as I write this. The forecast today is simple. Winds out of the south will drive temperatures well into the 60's under mostly sunny skies. Winds will be gusty at times, and with the dry conditions, could make burning dangerous. Winds stay active overnight tonight, keeping a big influx of warmer air in place. Temperatures will only cool into the low 50's, making for a fairly mild night.
WEDNESDAY
Temperatures are in the 60's again tomorrow, as big southerly flow remains in place. More clouds return as chances for rain fill the forecast. By the afternoon, showers are likely beginning to overspread the region. Rain will likely remain our dominant precipitation type through the overnight hours, despite temperatures dropping.
EXTENDED
That rain will transition over to freezing rain and sleet early Thursday morning, before becoming all snow after sunrise. This system could bring about an inch of rain, the accumulating ice, and 2-4 inches of snow. Details of this system are still fluid and are expected to change between now and then. Be sure to stay up with the forecast as we approach Thursday. Regardless of the exact numbers, roads will be in poor shape throughout the day. We’ll right the ship into the weekend, warming into the 40’s Friday and Saturday. Highs will approach 60 by Sunday and Monday.
