Jefferson City man arrested for rape of minor

Jefferson City Police were called to a home in the 600 block of Belmont Street for a possible intruder.

When officers arrived at the home, the suspect had fled the area, and the residents claimed that a masked man entered the home and sexually assaulted the victim, identified as a 17 year old girl.

The victim told investigators that the suspect forced himself upon her against her will, threatened her with a handgun and took her cell phone to prevent her from calling anyone.

The suspect, 40 year old Shawndell Miller, who was also living at the residence, was identified as the suspect and was taken to the police department for questioning. Police eventually found the gun that the suspect discarded after the assault.

Miller was arrested for first degree sodomy, felonious restraint, armed criminal action and first degree rape.
