West Columbia residents concerned over Dublin Ave. road expansion proposal

Discussions on a proposed west Columbia road extension will continue in late May.

On Wednesday, the Columbia Area Transportation Study Organization, or CATSO, discussed the potential expansion from Dublin Avenue to Scott Boulevard as part of its long-range transportation plan.

Multiple residents wrote letters to the group to voice concerns over traffic hazards for children, property devaluation and destruction of the forested area that the road would cut through.

Some CATSO members said they aren’t sold on the idea either, but will leave it in the plan for future possibilities.

The expansion is now set to be discussed at a May 25 coordinating meeting.
