Water continues to flood roads in Boone County

UPDATE 9:00 p.m.: The following is an updated list of closed roads in Boone County:

Easley River Road between Smith Hatchery and Easley, affects Coopers Landing Route V at Anchorom Road North 5300 block of Hinkson Creek Road Highway WW at the Boone-Callaway line at Cedar Creek Sinclair Road at Mill Creek Route Y near Bob Veach Road Gillespie Bridge Road

ORIGINAL: Several roads remain closed Monday in Boone County because they are underwater.

Columbia has received about 7 inches of rain since April 24, about 5.38 inches which fell over the weekend.

At one point over the weekend, at least 25 roads were closed because they were underwater.

The following roads in Boone County are still closed because of flooding:

Route V at Anchorom Road North Locust Grove Church Road and Bell Road 5300 block of Hinkson Creek Road Route E at Twin Bridges Highway WW at the Boone-Callaway line at Cedar Creek Sinclair Road at Mill Creek Worley Street at Strawn Road Route Y near Bob Veach Road Gillespie Bridge Road

Greg Edington, a spokesman for Boone County Public Works, said work crews will monitor the road conditions throughout the day. He said crews will be out cleaning up debris from the roads and taking down or putting up “road closed” signs all day.
