UPDATE: Meta chase suspect still at large

The Maries County Sheriff’s Office has requested that a Cherryville man be charged with felony resisting arrest, felony driving without a license and numerous traffic charges out of Maries County. A video from the Maries County Sheriff’s Office’s Facebook page can be seen here.

Billy James Place, 27, is a suspect in the Meta vehicle chase that took place earlier this week. The sheriff’s office wrote a Facebook post, saying that Place could face additional charges from Osage County and Cole County, including felony unlawful possession of a firearm and felony tampering with a motor vehicle.

Place has several past convictions, including involuntary manslaughter, unlawful use of a weapon during a hate crime, first degree burglary and second degree burglary.

The Marie’s County Sheriff’s Office thinks that Place is in Crawford or Washington County. They explain that Place usually carries a gun on him, so do not approach him. If you see Place, report it to your local authorities.
