Former Camden County deputy pleads guilty to child porn charge
A former Camden County sheriff’s deputy admitted in federal court Thursday to receiving child pornography.
Leonard Jerome Wilson, 40, formerly of Camdenton, will have to give up his peace officer license and plead guilty in two state cases after his guilty plea Thursday before federal District Judge Stephen R. Bough in Jefferson City, the U.S. attorney’s office for the Western District of Missouri said in a news release.
Leonard was arrested in 2017.
Deputies obtained a tablet and two cellphones during an internal investigation of allegations of sexual misconduct against Wilson for actions on and off duty, according to the release. An SD card in one cellphone had on it 18 images of child pornography and 49 images of child erotica showing infants, toddlers and prepubescent children, the U.S. attorney’s office said.
Wilson faces up to 20 years in federal prison and a minimum of five years in prison without parole. A sentencing hearing will be set after a presentence investigation.
