Cox captures his third national championship in four years

Mizzou wrestler J’den Cox is now a three-time national champion. The Former Hickman Kewpie defeated Minnesota’s Brett Pfarr 8-2 in the 197-pound finals at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis on Saturday.

Cox is the first Mizzou wrestler to ever win three national titles. He joins Ben Askren as the only other Mizzou wrestler to achieve All-American status all four years.

The Columbia native has succeeded in just about every aspect of his life. He won four state titles at four different weight classes at Hickman High School. This past summer, Cox won an Olympic bronze medal in Rio. Just days after his return to Columbia, he helped save a man’s life.

What’s next for Cox? He says he wants to play football this Fall for head coach Barry Odom and the Tigers. Stay tuned.
