Sorrels Overpass Timeline
On Oct. 18, a truck hit the Sorrels Overpass causing significant damage to the bottom of the bridge.
The driver of the truck that hit the bridge, a 51-year-old Boonville man, suffered serious injuries in the crash.
MoDOT had originally planned on replacing the bridge this year but the timeline was moved up due to the crash. Just four days after the damage was caused, MoDOT awarded an emergency contract to Emery Sapp and Sons for construction of the $1,038,857 project.
In early November, the bridge was demolished.
Workers started construction of the bridge started earlier this month. MoDOT stated delays should be expected for several days this week depending on construction. MoDOT said the delays will be announced at least one day in advance.
The new Sorrels Overpass is expected to be completed by May of this year.
