Columbia man arrested for assault, property damage, endangering welfare of child

Officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of Claudell Lane in reference to a disturbance on Thursday.

Officers arrived on scene and found the back door of an apartment open, and sounds of a disturbance coming from inside the apartment. Robert Croom came out of the apartment and walked towards officers.

Officers gave Croom commands to stop and sit down, but Croom took off running in the opposite direction. Croom was taken into custody after a short chase.

The female victim said that Croom was being aggressive towards her while he had been drinking alcohol. The victim said that Croom punched her, slapped her and poked her in the face multiple times. A second female victim also said that Croom poked and punched her in the face, as well as wrestled her to the ground. A child was in the room at the time of the altercation.

Croom also damaged multiple items in the home before he left.

Croom was arrested in the 1000 block of Claudell Lane for fourth degree misdemeanor domestic assault, second degree endangering the welfare of a child, fourth degree misdemeanor assault, second degree property damage and misdemeanor resisting or interfering with an arrest.
