Tracking low rain chances through the weekend

TODAY: Thursday is another dry day for most, with a blanket of clouds over the region. This will have our skies technically mostly cloudy, but we may be bright for much of the day through thin clouds, and breaks in between them, so take the sunglasses. Temperatures should climb from the upper 60s this morning and into the low 80s by this afternoon. By late morning into the afternoon, some near Truman Lake to the Lake of the Ozarks could see some light showers.

TONIGHT: Showers and weak thunderstorms are possible overnight, as moisture to our south spreads northward. This will happen slowly, leaving our best chance for showers on Friday morning south of I-70.

EXTENDED: Rain will try to push northward on Friday, but dry air and high pressure will act as a deterrent to rain spreading northward. This will leave some with rainfall through midday, but many will be dry. Rain totals and overall rain chances will taper quickly to the north of a line from Brunswick to Montgomery City. Clouds and rain keep forecast highs in the 70s. Rain chances may linger for Saturday, as high pressure to our east appears increasingly unlikely to clear the region of rain. Chances for showers and weak storms remain west of HWY 63 on Saturday and Sunday, with drier weather forecast to the east. Both days have highs forecast near 80°, but 70s can be expected with rain. Showers and storms cannot be ruled out on Monday, but generally drier weather is expected early next week.
