2 St. Louis police officers shot in Ferguson, hospitalized

KMIZ

ST. LOUIS (AP) — Two St. Louis police officers are hospitalized after being shot in neighboring Ferguson. Police Chief John Hayden said Wednesday evening that an officer who had been in “very critical” condition was improving after surgery. But he’s still in critical condition. Hayden said officers were in a marked squad car around 1 p.m. Wednesday when they spotted a car believed to have been involved in an overnight killing. When the officers approached the car, the occupants opened fire. Four people in the car were taken into custody. Authorities said one of the suspects was shot and was being treated at the same hospital as the officers. His condition was not available.
