Crews work to fix nearly decadelong flooding issue in central Columbia
ABC 17 News confirmed on Friday work crews are making progress on flooding issues in central Columbia.
It’s a story ABC 17 News has covered since January, when Josie Sullivan first showed us the flooding problem she had battled for 9 years at the corner of Anderson Avenue and West Ash Street.
Sullivan said rain water had made its way into her basement, causing nearly $11,000 in damage to her foundation.
The Columbia Public Works Department said concrete has been poured for higher curbs from the street corner to Sullivan’s driveway.
Crews will also lift the sidewalk. The project was expected to wrap up on Friday, weather permitting. It’s expected to cost around $10,000 to complete.
