Two people in custody after chase ends in Boone County

Two people were taken into custody Saturday afternoon after a police chase from Eldon to Boone County, the Missouri State Highway Patrol confirms.

Eldon Police Chief, Brian Kidwell, said an officer was sent to a business to check out a report that a man trying to buy items using a stolen identity. Kidwell said when the responding officer arrived, the man ran from the business into a car with a female driver.

Police attempted to stop the driver but she did not stop and the chase began. From Eldon, officers followed to the pair through Miller, Cole and Callaway counties before the chase finally ended near Ashland in Boone County after officers used spike strips. Troopers told ABC 17 News speeds got up to around 85 mph during the pursuit.

Both people were taken into custody without incident and taken back to Eldon where they could face charges from the Miller County prosecutor.

ABC 17 News saw authorities searching and unloading expensive electronics and clothing from the suspect car.

Eldon police have not identified the suspects.
