Warmer weather, dry conditions increase risk of fires
Mid-Missouri is not under a red flag warning, but fire officials are suggesting no one burn outdoors.
Some areas of mid-Missouri might see light precipitation, but not enough to dampen the dry ground, according to ABC 17’s stormtracker Emily Klaus.
Tips from fire officials are:
No burning of leaves or trash, even in unincorporated counties that don’t have a burn ban Make sure cigarettes and cigars are fully burnt out before discarding If planning to grill, do so in residential areas and have either a fire extinguisher or bucket of water handy Clear dead weeds and vegetation Call 911 at the first signs of a fire
Fire officials said don’t drive over dead grass because there is a possibility sparks can be created.
