Wanted Randolph County suspect arrested hours after posting on Facebook

Randolph County deputies arrested Oren Kirchhoff on Wednesday for multiple warrants.

The department’s social-media account posted an announcement saying Kirchhoff had been commenting online the previous day.

“For the past 24 hours an individual that has several felony warrants has been taunting the Sheriffs Office about not being able to catch him,” the post said. “Well we are pleased to say that we caught the individual that thought it would be fun to taunt us. Oren Kirchhoff was arrested today in Moberly by the Sheriff’s Office while trying to hide in the shower. No one was injured in the apprehension.”

Randolph County Sheriff Mark Nichols confirmed Kirchhoff had felony warrants for failing to appear on possession of controlled substance charges.

While Nichols would not confirm if social media was the main source of information leading to Kirchhoff’s capture, he told ABC 17 News that social media often aids in criminal investigations.
