Cole County woman, Columbia woman arrested for kidnapping, assault
Callaway County Sheriff’s Office deputies and investigators responded to County Road 4038 just outside of Jefferson City for a reported assault victim on Wednesday.
Callaway County Sheriff Clay Chism told ABC 17 News they were able to locate the victim using a ping on her cell phone.
When deputies arrived on scene, the 22-year-old woman from the Jefferson City area was found. She had sustained moderate injuries from being assaulted, and was transported by Callaway County EMS to a Jefferson City hospital where she was treated and later released.
Through the investigation, it was determined that the victim had been brought to this location by two other female subjects, later identified as Brianna Cavins, 20, of Columbia, and Mikayla Collins, 20, of Jefferson City.
According to court documents, Collins contacted the victim through Facebook under false pretense and offered to pick her up and take her to a mutual acquaintance.
The victim reported that Cavins and Collins held her against her will, assaulted her extensively, and then left her along the county roadway. The victim further reported that when the suspects left, they stole items from her.
Sheriff’s Office investigators found Cavins and Collins later Wednesday in Fulton and arrested them.
Both Cavins and Collins are being held in the Callaway County Jail on no bond. They are charged with kidnapping, assault and tampering with property of another. Cavins is also charged with armed criminal action.
