Glasgow School District makes changes to combat bullying

A Mid-Missouri school district announced it’s changing the way it handles bullying after it was found negligent in a student’s death.

Glasgow School District sent a letter to families this week stating that its high school will create a committee made up of two students from each grade (7-12) to address student-safety concerns. The committee will meet at least once a month with staff and will be called the ASSIST Team (All Students Succeed in Schools Today).

In the letter, Superintendent Michael Reynolds wrote, “I want you to know that our staff remains committed to providing your child with the best education in the safest environment possible.”

The letter comes after Harley Branham was charged with involuntary manslaughter in the suicide death of Kenneth Suttner.

Suttner was a senior at Glasgow High School at the time of his death.
