Man arrested in suburban St. Louis killings of man, dog

KMIZ

FENTON, Mo. (AP) — Police have arrested a man accused of shooting to death another man and his dog in suburban St. Louis. Television station KSDK reports that 22-year-old Tony Hager was charged Wednesday with second-degree murder and armed criminal action in the Sunday afternoon shooting of 25-year-old Austin Vines in Fenton. Police say officers called to a home in the city southwest of St. Louis found Vines and his boxer mix, Nova, with gunshot wounds. Vines was taken to a hospital, where he died the next day. The dog also died. Investigators believe Hager and other people went to the home to confront Vines over an ongoing disagreement, and an argument led to the shooting. Police say witnesses told investigators Hager was the shooter.
