Men in custody named following Tuesday chase and crash in Boone County

UPDATE 2/16: A crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol is revealing the names of two men involved in a chase and crash in Cooper and Boone Counties.

Troopers say the driver was 45-year-old Roger Hanson. 48-year-old Joey Stoutt was also in the vehicle at the time and both men were thrown from the vehicle in the crash.

The crash reports says both men were taken to University Hospital. Stoutt apparently had serious injuries and Hanson suffered moderate injuries in the wreck.

ORIGINAL: A chase that began in Cooper County ended with a crash in eastern Boone County just after midnight Wednesday morning.

Lt. James Deckard with the Boonville Police Department said it all started in the 1100 block of Krohn Street.

An officer was patrolling the area when they spotted a suspicious vehicle with a light out and an equipment violation.

When the officer attempted to pull over the vehicle, it took off driving through resident’s yards.

The vehicle, occupied by two men from St. Louis, was able to flee to I-70 and headed east.

Trooper Gary Gundy with the Missouri State Highway Patrol told ABC 17 News spike strips were put down on the highway at the Route Z exit in Boone County by the Highway Patrol. The vehicle hit the spikes and not only flipped off the highway, but also along outer road I-70 Drive Southeast before coming to a stop in a field.

Lt. Deckard said both men were ejected from the vehicle and taken to a local hospital.

The Boone County Sheriff’s Department and Columbia Police Department were also on the scene following the crash.
