Vehicle a total loss and mobile home damaged after fire in south Boone County

UPDATE 7:18am: ABC17 talked with the vehicle owner. He believes a vehicle battery charger was the cause of the fire, however firefighters have not confirmed that.

He also said his neighbors were the first to notice the truck was on fire and ran over to his residence.

They tried to put out the fire with a garden hose, however the water inside was frozen.

The owner is just grateful no one was hurt in the process.

UPDATE 5:47am: Firefighters have just cleared the scene of a vehicle fire in south Boone County.

They say it’s unclear what started the fire, but say the vehicle is a total loss.

The fire also apparently spread to a nearby RV, which sustained damage as well.

ABC 17 News is working to find out if anyone was living in the mobile home at the time and how much repairs will cost.

We’ll update this story as we learn more.

ORIGINAL: Firefighters are responding to reports of a vehicle fire in south Boone County right now.

Crews were first called out to the 3600 block of East Hidden Lane just before 5:00 Monday morning.

Dispatch records show at least ten units are responding.
