Man arrested after leading deputies on multi-county high-speed chase

A Sullivan man was arrested Saturday after allegedly leading law enforcement on a high-speed chase through several mid-Missouri counties.

According to the Maries County Sheriff’s Office, the chase started in Maries County, continued into Phelps County and eventually ended in Crawford County.

The chase ended when the suspect, Preston Gilliam, 41, crashed his car on Highway V just off Highway 49 near Davisville. He then reportedly ran into the woods where he was eventually arrested.

A Maries County deputy injured his back during the foot pursuit.

The Belle Marshal’s Office, Missouri State Highway Patrol, Phelps County Sheriff’s Office and St. James Police Department assisted in the pursuit.
