One person dies in Miller County house fire

One person is dead Friday after a house fire in Miller County.

It happened shortly after 11:00 a.m. on Brown Road, just off Highway 52.

Fire crews got to the home in about 15 minutes and remained at the scene for more than five hours, according to Marsha Scott ,with the Moreau Fire Protection District.

A pet may have also died in the blaze, but firefighters were not able to confirm that information on scene, Scott said.

The home is considered a total loss. The cause of the fire is under investigation with the state fire marshal’s office.

Officials on Friday night could not release the victim’s name or cause of death.

Firefighters from the city of Eldon, Lake Ozark and Tuscumbia assisted the Moreau Fire Protection District with putting out the blaze.
