Two people arrested after drugs found in car

Two people were taken into custody Tuesday after drugs were reportedly discovered in their vehicle in Callaway County.

Around 2 p.m. a deputy spotted 29-year-old Loretta Wimmer sitting inside of a vehicle on County Road 220. Wimmer had an active warrant for her arrest, which the deputy was aware of. The Sheriff’s Office said when the deputy tried approaching Wimmer she took off running into a field. She was taken into custody after a foot pursuit.

The Sheriff’s Office said another person, 40-year-old Damien Green, was also in the vehicle with Wimmer. He was arrested for allegedly being uncooperative and failing to identify as a witness.

The Boone County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit was then called in to search the vehicle.

Authorities said they found a large quantity of suspected methamphetamine, firearms, money and drug paraphernalia.
