Monday Afternoon, January 23

TODAY: As the story has been for most of January, thick clouds will stick around for most of the day in Mid-Missouri. That in addition to NW winds under 15 mph will keep the wind chill in the mid 30s all day long. While clouds aren’t expected to thin much through the day, highs should still top out in the mid 40s by late afternoon.

TONIGHT: Skies will be partly cloudy this evening, with winds out of the southeast under 10 mph. Even with the warm southeast winds, temperatures tonight will fall to near freezing.

EXTENDED: On Tuesday a south breeze will kick in with winds gusting to 20 mph in the afternoon. Temperatures will warm to the mid 50s under a partly sunny to mostly cloudy sky. Light rain will be possible from 7PM through 1AM Wednesday morning bringing .01 to .10″ to those north of I-70. The associated cold front will bring a wind shift on Wednesday with sustained winds from the west/northwest near 12-15 mph gusting to 25 mph. Rain will be possible in the afternoon from 12PM-5PM again mainly for those north of I-70. As colder air will be working in, some snowflakes will be possible, while no snow accumulation is expected. Temperatures Wednesday night will fall to the upper 20s leaving a cold, and dry, but more seasonable end to the work week with highs in the mid to upper 30s and nights in the upper 20s.
