Columbia woman charged with child endangerment after December arrest

A Columbia woman is set to appear in Boone County Court after prosecutors charged her with one felony count of child endangerment.

The Columbia Police Department says it arrested Terhas Kidane, 28, around 3:30 p.m. on Dec. 26 in the parking lot at the Walmart on West Broadway.

According to a probable cause statement obtained by ABC 17 News, Kidane left her 1-year-old daughter buckled in a car seat inside her car with the keys in the ignition.

Kidane told police she went inside the store for a few minutes to make a purchase and didn’t want to wake the child, who was sleeping at the time.

Kidane is expected to appear in Boone County Court on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. for an initial arraignment.
