Sara Walsh announces run to replace Caleb Jones in 50th District Missouri House seat
A candidate is already in the running to replace State Representative Caleb Jones, just a day after Jones announced he’s stepping down to take a position with Governor-elect Eric Greitens’ administration.
Sara Walsh announced her candidacy for 50th District Missouri House seat early Wednesday via Twitter.
Walsh is a Republican Party State Committeewoman from Boone County.
In a statement released Wednesday, Walsh said, “I have a desire to serve the people of Missouri and believe I can best do that by championing issues and causes important to them as their Representative in the General Assembly.”
“The campaign I had planned for 2018, when State Representative Caleb Jones would have been term-limited, will begin now. I have been meeting with many of the good citizens of Boone, Cole, Cooper, and Moniteau counties and eagerly look forward to introducing myself to those I don’t yet know. Caleb has been a wonderful representative for our district in Jefferson City. I hope to build on his accomplishments when I get to the General Assembly. I wish Caleb the best in his exciting new endeavor.”
In the statement, Walsh says she is focused on a number of key issues as she kicks off her campaign. She says those issues include removing obstacles to job creation, public safety, education, and improving care for Missouri’s senior citizens.
