ST. CHARLES, Mo. (AP) — A suburban St. Louis deputy is being treated for a broken pelvis and a broken ankle after he was struck early Wednesday by a sport utility vehicle that fled a police stop. The incident happened around 4 a.m. after members of the county’s auto theft task force stopped the SUV. The driver sped off, ramming a St. Charles County police vehicle and hitting the deputy. Sheriff Scott A. Lewis told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that the deputy is in pain but “in good spirits.” The chase ended when the SUV crashed into a police car in St. Louis County. The SUV driver and a passenger were arrested.
