Saturday Evening, December 24

TONIGHT: It will feel like anything, but winter tonight as temperatures will be on the rise. Thanks to overcast skies tonight and a ESE wind, fog is likely to develop once more. However, it won’t be as dense due to wind speeds up to 11 mph. The nightly low will occur around midnight, with slowly rising temperatures through the night. As moisture increases, can’t rule out some showers after midnight, with increasing coverage by morning.

SUNDAY: Christmas looks breezy & warm with temperatures in the upper 50s and lower 60s. Two rounds of showers and storms are possible. The first in the morning will occur from 5AM-11AM lifting from the south. We’ll have some dry time in the afternoon before an approaching cold front moves in Sunday night, bringing a line of thunderstorms from 7PM-Midnight. There is a Marginal Risk for Severe Weather at this time west of US 63 for the potential of damaging 60 mph winds. Winds of 40 mph or greater however can impact vehicles, cause debris on roads, and impact holiday decor. We’ll be keeping a close eye on Sunday night. Total rainfall amounts for the weekend are expected to come in at 0.50″ near I-70 with higher amounts of 1″ across the Ozarks, I-44, and north of HWY 24..

EXTENDED: Monday is shaping up to be sunny and dry. Traveling conditions will be favorable as temperatures don’t reach freezing until Monday night. Tuesday also holds sunny and dry conditions with Wednesday breaking this short-lived trend of dry weather with a chance for early morning rain. Temperatures will remain bearable this week lingering in the 40s for the highs and lows remaining in the upper 20s and lower 30s. For additional weather updates follow @ABC17Stormtrack on Twitter.
