Wintry Mix Possible Friday

A complex pattern still looking good from Friday through Sunday night. However, there looks to be the possibility for a wintry mix early on Friday morning. Forecast models are indicating after 3AM areas south of HWY 50 and west of US 63 could see a mix of rain/snow/sleet/ and freezing drizzle. This will lift northeast and could impact Columbia from 6AM-8AM on Friday morning. If any snow develops, it looks likely to aggregate giving us the wet, larger snowflakes with minor accumulation perhaps to 1/2″. Temperatures look to rise at the surface above 32 by 9AM near I-70 and near HWY 36 by 12PM where minor ice accumulation can’t be ruled out. Friday afternoon will bring light rain for those along and east of US 63. Temperatures look to fall to below freezing on Friday night north of I-70 where refreezing could occur if pavement is wet causing slick spots for those out early on Saturday morning near HWY 22, 24, 36, and US 63 north of I-70.
