Callaway County is still seeing icy conditions on rural roads

On Tuesday, our ABC17 crews were out in Callaway County checking on road conditions.

Early in the morning they still saw some roads that had a few icy patches as well as snow on the roadways.

Our crews talked with Callaway County’s road supervisor, Paul Winkelmann, who said they are still treating some gravel roads and roads that are covered with a lot of shade. They will be going out later on today to cover those roads with salt.

Winkelmann says the ice is really spotty and all black tops are in great shape. He is not expecting any of the roads to be an issue once the temperatures rise above freezing, which is expected to happen early Tuesday afternoon.

Some school districts in the area still decided to close school for Tuesday:

-Fayette R-III Schools

-Fulton Public Schools

-Higbee R-VIII Schools

-NE Randolph Co R-IV Schools

-North Callaway R-I Schools

-South Callaway R-II Schools

-Westran R-I Schools
